Our Story

A Small-Town Diner Feel, Right Off the Loop

El Valle De Mexico has been a fixture on TX-106 Loop for decades — a low-key, family-owned spot with the kind of "locals-only" atmosphere you can't manufacture. Regulars have been coming since the late 1970s and early ’80s, and that history shows in every plate that comes out of the kitchen and every warm greeting at the counter.

The kitchen keeps things honest: shredded brisket cooked low in the oven until it falls apart, chorizo-potato-egg-bacon-and-cheese tacos stuffed to the max and made only after you order, and rice and beans that taste like someone's abuela is still back there watching the stove. The green salsa — roasted jalapeños, blended simple — sits right alongside a warm, mild red that builds heat the longer you eat it, both served with rigid, crispy homemade chips.

It's not fancy, and it doesn't try to be. It's a family-run breakfast-and-lunch counter where the tea is always brewed the same way, the specials change daily, and the portions make the price worth it. Open early, closed by early afternoon, closed Sundays — come see why generations of San Antonio families keep making the drive.
